The Gallery of Apollo houses some of the museum’s most valuable collections. Reopened in January 2020, it has been completely renovated: paintings, stucco and precious Gobelins tapestries have been restored to their former glory. Three new showcases have been installed in the centre of the gallery to display the collection of Crown diamonds, initiated by François I. There are pre-Revolutionary hard stones, such as the Regent and the Sancy, on display next to the coronation crown of Louis XV. Another showcase displays jewellery from the First Empire, the Restoration and the July Monarchy. The ornaments of the Empress Eugenie adorn the third display case.
