The Caravelle peninsula extends over 7.4 miles (12 km) at La Trinité on the Atlantic coast of Martinique. Rising from sea level to 620 ft (189 m) high, where it culminates at Morne Pavillon, it is geologically the oldest part of Martinique, with the region of Sainte-Anne at the southern end of the island. Bathed by the Havre de Trinité to the west and the Baie du Galion and the Cul-de-sac de Tartane to the south, it merges sky, sea, and land. The village of Tartane (3,000 inhabitants) is the only town on the peninsula. Two marked trails allow different walks across the Caravelle peninsula and offer views of the Îlets du Robert and Baie du Trésor.
