While the ever-clear fur of the polar bear gives it a good camouflage in the Arctic landscape, it looks more creamy or yellow than white in its dazzlingly white habitat: the Arctic sea ice. The transparent, hollow hairs of its outer mantle turn yellow with the sun oxidation. Its oily and highly water-repellent fur and skin easily wick away water and quickly dry.
