The forge of Laguiole in Aveyron

0
The ‘Forge de Laguiole’ knife factory is located in the eponymous village in the French department of Aveyron. Around a hundred employees work there daily to create unique, hand-made pieces. The manufacture of Laguiole knives uses T12 steel. It is hot-rolled at 'Aciéries de Bonpertuis', a steel mill located near the city of Grenoble. In the factory, the blades are shaped at 1832 degrees Fahrenheit (1000 degrees Celsius) from this steel, produced exclusively for the ‘Forge de Laguiole’.
