The defense of Burgundy's terroir

With 12,000 members around the world, the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin (Brotherhood of Knights of the Wine-Tasters) friendly defends Burgundy, its grands crus, and its gastronomy. These apostles of Rabelais and Molière revived the bacchanalian traditions of yesteryear in 1934, a rather gloomy period for Burgundy wines. It was in 1944 that they moved to the castle of Vougeot in order to be amid the vines. After a commandery was created in New York and New Orleans in 1949 with more than 2,400 members, the Knights spread all over the world.
