The literary creation of the Belle Epoque

On the first floor of the Villa du Temps Retrouvé in Cabourg are several rooms devoted to artistic creation and the presence of artists in Normandy. The office with a free-access 1900 library allows visitors to approach the literary creation of the time. At the start of the 20th century and before the First World War, Europe actually experienced years of prosperity and euphoria that transformed its capitals into high places of culture and literary activity. French literature was then dominated by the idealistic novels of Anatole France, a humanist writer and keen observer of the time, and the stories of Romain Rolland until the novelistic revolution embodied by Marcel Proust.
