The American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC) is an independent agency of the United States government whose mission is to preserve the memory of the sacrifices and achievements of American military forces who have served overseas since 6 April 1917. Founded by the U.S. Congress in 1923, the Commission administers and maintains American military cemeteries and memorials overseas. The sites in France honour American soldiers who fell in both World Wars.
