The Rolls-Royce collection

It is one of the most recognizable symbols in the automotive world. Synonymous with beauty, luxury, and style, the Spirit of Ecstasy is the small figure that has adorned the front of all Rolls-Royces for over a century. In 1909, Lord Montagu asked Charles Sykes to design a mascot that would decorate the front of his Rolls-Royce. The managers of the brand loved it and entrusted Sykes with creating an original radiator cap. Note that the Flying Lady spreads not her wings but her arms, the air rushing into the fabric of her dress. The Rolls-Royce Phantom III and 13 other models are displayed at the Cité de l'Automobile in Mulhouse.
