La tour de l'horloge fut bâtie sur pilotis de 1772 à 1775 et servait de vigie. La cloche (musée national de la marine) à l'intérieur de ce Campanile en fer forgé et l'horloge annonçaient les heures de début et de fin du travail sur l'arsenal de Toulon dans le passé.
