Cross-country ski trails are classified using the same colour coding than alpine ski slopes: ‘blue’ for the easy trails, adapted to the classic technique thanks to their predominantly flat terrain and a gentle slope (less than 10% inclination); ‘red’ for the medium difficulty trails, on a rolling terrain with a gradient up to 20%; and ‘black’ for the difficult and steeper trails requiring solid turning skills.
