The Explorers
The fortified part of Briançon - or Cité Vauban - corresponds to the upper town. It forms a citadel dominated by the Fort du Château. Several gates access to the old town which it protects : the Embrun gate downtown, the Pignerol gate and the Dauphine gate uptown and the Durance gate which joins the Asfeld Bridge and the Fort des Trois Têtes.
