Famous for its Promenade des Anglais along the Baie des Anges, Nice is considered the capital of the French Riviera. In 1955, its airport located by the sea west of the city took the name of Nice-Côte d'Azur Airport and, in 2019, the University of Nice was renamed Côte d'Azur University. The main city of a coastal region that stretches from Toulon to the Italian border, Nice extends at the center of the Nice Côte d'Azur conurbation that comprises almost a million inhabitants.
