Listed as a historical monument in 1949, the Château du Clos de Vougeot is the emblem of the vineyards of Burgundy. The sundial adorns the stone walls of the main structure. Ancient objects used by humans to measure the passage of time. The sundial, lighten up by the natural sunlight, casts its shadow on the graduated surface. This very old artifact is always oriented south. The sundial of the Château du Clos de Vougeot is placed in the interior of the courtyard.
