The Greek's good fortune

0
The town of Agde in the Hérault department was originally baptized Agathé Tyché (the Good Fortune) by the Greeks of Phocaea in 650/700 BC. Agde, which was only a rocky cape back then, has since lived from and for the sea. The city was one of the most important trading ports in the Mediterranean since Antiquity and until the 18th century. It attracted the interest of Cardinal de Richelieu, who undertook the construction of a harbor destined to transform the site into a strategic point on the Mediterranean. Today, the natural and cultural heritage of Agde still testifies to its rich past.
