The so-called combing process aims to untangle the flax tows. The fibers are gradually separated by passing them through ever-finer combs. Upon leaving the last comb, the silky and parallel fibers are assembled to form a long ribbon. At the Terre de Lin cooperative, the combing step is only carried out on premium quality flax fibers.
