Downside of speed
The speed of cheetahs is incredible, yet they are among the most vulnerable predators of the savannah. Indeed, their racing requires such an effort that they always risk a fatal overheating, their internal temperature exceeding 104°F (40°C) in full speed. Once their preys are captured, they cannot eat them immediately because they have to rest and catch their breath. In such a state of fatigue, they are unable to defend their preys against stronger predators (lions, panthers, hyenas ...) to whom they often abandon the product of their hunt.
