The aerial life of the adult gray cicadas (Cicada orni) lasts two to four weeks. They can be observed from mid-May to mid-October but are really abundant from mid-June to early September. As soon as they emerge from the ground, the males launch their nuptial call and begin to sing on cymbalization stations located on trunks and large branches at a height that mostly depends on the sunshine. Gregarious, the males can be found in large numbers on the same cymbalization station.
