The island of Tiga, in the Loyalty archipelago, depends on the commune of Lifou and is part of the Drehu customary area. It shelters a single tribe of approximately 150 inhabitants which is settled in the northwest of the island and belongs to the Loessi district. In 2016, three quarters of the Tiga natives lived around Nouméa, on the main island of New-Caledonia.
