The identity of Biot glass

A glass flaw linked to an imperfect melting or poor refining, the magnifying bubbles effect can be intentionally obtained by sprinkling baking soda on the post (ball of molten glass) before covering it with a second picking (molten material taken from the crucible). Trapped between two layers of hot glass, the grains of bicarbonate decompose into small and regular bubbles of carbon dioxide which catch and refract more light.
