The Cité du Train in Mulhouse in the Haut-Rhin department is the largest railway museum in Europe. It shows an extended collection of old locomotives and prestige carriages. The significant moments in the history of the railway are displayed in the Quais de l'Histoire (Quays of History) section. The Panorama Ferroviaire, an outdoor area of 1.5 acres (6,000 m²), hosts temporary exhibitions of equipment and playful railway activities. From the steam trains to today's TGV, the Cité du Train pays tribute to the history of France and its technological development.
