In 1951, the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris organized an exhibition entitled L'Art du verre (The Art of glass). The nave of the building was then lit by a monumental 10 ft high chandelier (3 m) created by Marc Lalique and weighing around 3,747 lbs (1.7 tons). After the exhibition, it was stored in the museum's warehouses and forgotten. In 2008, however, the chandelier was handed over to the Lalique museum in Wingen-sur-Moder, in the Bas-Rhin department. It now hangs at the entrance to the museum.
