The ivy staircase

The handrail of the Villa Majorelle's staircase is adorned with ivy decorations in oak wood. Designed by Henri Sauvage and executed by Louis Majorelle, it expresses the strength of ivy's growth, the foliage of which decreases as it rises. The twisted movement of the balusters also reinforces the vegetal aspect of the ensemble. Above the first floor, a glass chandelier in green and brown tones is dedicated to algae. The orange-pink stained-glass window lets a soft light penetrate the vestibule of the villa.
