The church of Sainte-Croix-en-son-Exaltation dominates the village of Bailly-le-Franc in the Aube. It is part of a group of wood-framed churches from the 16th to 18th centuries. A slate-covered wooden spire dominates the second bay of the nave from the top of its 26 meters. Since stone was rare in the Aube, men built the churches like their houses, in cob and in wood. Thin wooden beams support the walls and make all the originality of the church.
