The 'Auberge du Marronnier', in the center of this photo, reminds us that the village of Châteauneuf-en-Auxois has a long tradition of hospitality since it was a stopover on one of the many paths taken by pilgrims to get to Santiago de Compostela. A shield with three shells placed above the door of a house also testifies to this. As for the mission crosses, the village has several, notably below the church and next to the funeral monument.
