The Saint-Roch cove

The Saint-Roch cove of Port Vauban in Antibes forms a natural shelter which, from the 4th century BC, attracted the Greeks settled in Marseille. The original harbor represents a cove of approximately 69 acres (28 ha). Widely open to the east, it is supported to the north by the Fort Carré peninsula and protected from east and south-east winds by the two former islets of Gravette (Sainte-Claire) and Arsenal (Saint-Jaume) today connected to the land by an old dike.
