The green grass of the rainy season is essential for the survival of newborn wildebeest, whose growth is not totally ensured by breast milk. Births usually take place in the morning and the calf is able to follow the adults on the same evening. Nursed during at least 4 months, the young male is excluded at 1 year old, before the new calving.
