Inuits are major consumers of oily fish, notably salmon, rich in Omega-3. This consumption of protein and unsaturated fats would limit their cardiovascular problems and the neurological toxicity of metals such as lead and mercury. In the past twenty years, pink salmons have been swimming further north in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago since the waters are ice-freed earlier in the season.
