Kouenra Island is the last of the tiny islets scattered over the western coastal area of the Caledonian lagoon between Gouaro Bay and Poé Beach, near Bourail. It succeeds Kia Island, Méecie Island, Korragan Island and Méjéno Island which have in common their small size and round shape. Of all these islands, Kouenra Island has the densest and most luxuriant vegetation cover surrounded by a strip of coral debris and a continuous layer of 'beach-rock'.
