Sapuru Sandeh, a Korowai chief, is pointing out his territory of which only the clan members know the boundaries. Since their hunting and gathering activities are practiced in the forest, their territory extends well beyond the clearings surrounding their perched habitat which show visual marks of transformation and ownership. It also includes all the surface that the clan members need to travel to get the elements of food and craft necessary for their lives.
