Kinkaku-ji (Pavillon d’Or)

Le Kinkaku-ji est le nom courant pour le Rokuon-ji, le premier terme signifiant « Temple du pavillon d’or » et le second « Temple impérial du jardin des cerfs ». Il est localisé au Nord de Kyoto.
Ce temple a été bâti en 1397 par le shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu qui en avait fait sa demeure. Puis à sa mort, il avait comme souhait de la transformer en un temple zen tel qu’il est aujourd’hui.
Le temple a été brûlé à plusieurs reprises dans l’histoire et la dernière fois remonte à 1950 pour ensuite être reconstruit en 1955 de manière identique.
Enfin, en 1994, il a été inscrit au Patrimoine mondial de l’Unesco.
