The King eider is a sea duck; it spends most of the year in the Arctic coastal marine ecosystems at high latitudes. In June and July, it migrates to the Arctic tundra to breed, close to the water points and wetlands. It is sexually dimorphic; the male is slightly larger and its breeding plumage is much more colorful than the female. It can dive to depths of up to 25 meters to catch prey.
