A kickspark or snow scooter is a small, light, and rigid aluminum sled designed for a single-dog or maximum two-dog traction. This activity, originating in Finland, can be practiced on snow on cross-country ski trails or ice on frozen lakes such as in Lake Servières in the Puy-de-Dôme department. Skates well suited to the various surfaces and types of snow can reach speeds of 15.5 to 24.8 mph (25 to 40 km/h) depending on the distance traveled.
