The Jokin cliffs are a must-see on Lifou Island. About 131ft (40m) high, they are accessible by a small path which runs along them from below and allows the locals to indulge in spear fishing. For their fishing to be successful, they invoke the protection of the ancestors buried in the rocks of the upper part of the cliff where one can still see a pirogue and a skeleton protected by woven bamboo stems.
