Unlike the adult, the lower parts, legs and beak of the juvenile ultramarine lorikeet are uniformly blackish. It acrobatically feeds on the nectar and pollen of a wide variety of flowering trees with a preference for coconut, banana and hibiscus tileaceus flowers. It also consumes mangoes and possibly some insects.
