In Honduras, the jaguar finds refuge in one of the rare remnants of tropical rainforest in Central America, in the Honduran region of La Mosquitia. This forest is part of the Río Plátano Biosphere Reserve, the largest protected area in the country, whose valley is inhabited by indigenous peoples. Efforts are underway to conserve the species, threatened with extinction in the near future.
