Made in the Rigolet workshops of Buttes Chaumont in Paris, the Amédée lighthouse was first assembled for verification at La Villette between July 1862 and June 1864 before being dismantled for transportation to New Caledonia. The installation work on Amédée islet then lasted ten months, from January to November 1865, with the help of soldiers and Melanesians. It was inaugurated on November 15, 1865.
