The siliceous islands of the Var coast, such as the Léoube islet off Bormes-les-Mimosas, are home to endemic Tyrrhenian taxa or with a distribution shared with Corsica, Sardinia, the Tuscan archipelago, or the Balearics. They are characterized by dense forest covers dominated by Aleppo pines (Pinus halepensis) and holm oaks (Quercus ilex) in thickets or even in boles.
