The Gambier Kingfisher (Todiramphus gambieri) is included in the red list of endangered species and classified as critically endangered according to the criteria of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (BirdLife International 2013, IUCN 2013). The Niau Atoll, on which the only surviving colony lives, makes it possible to study the biotic interactions with its predators since it simultaneously hosts this species and three species of introduced predators : the Polynesian rat (R. exulans), the black rat (R. rattus) and the cat (F. s. catus).
