Over nearly 80 miles (130 km), the Côte d'Albâtre (Alabaster Coast) alternates seaside resorts and chalk cliffs. It is listed as a Site of Community Importance within the Natura 2000 network. Karst and erosion have shaped the cliffs and dug funnels of clay and flint occupied by lawns of grasses. Above Fécamp in the Seine-Maritime department, Cap Fagnet, formerly known as Le Heurt de Fécamp, culminates at 344 ft (105 m). The town extends on the valleuse (fault) of the Valmont dug by the river in the wall of chalk and flint. It has been labeled a Ville d'Art et d'Histoire (City of Art and History) since 1992.
