The culture of flax and the knowledge of fiber are difficult to apprehend. While flax straw was mostly threshed in mills in the past, the harvest and processing techniques have evolved over the centuries. The winders have been improved by experts to better preserve the harvested straw. The machines responsible for each processing stage have been redesigned by manufacturers to help flax growers. However, in order to achieve the quality required, the farmers still engage in permanent controls at all stages of production.
