Infrasounds and vibrations

Unlike the trumpeting, most sounds produced by elephants come from their throats and are so low that man cannot hear them. The vibrations of these infrasounds can be perceived by other elephants up to a few miles.
These sounds are used to stay in contact, warn of a danger, call for help, let know where water is available... For instance, a female can find a male in musth or stay away from the road of another one.
