Blinders are essential for horses in a team, like this Comtois horse from the 'Attelages du Val d'Amour' regularly used by the municipal services of the city of Dole. They mainly make it possible to reduce the 340° visual field of their eyes placed laterally - as in many herbivores threatened by carnivores - and to limit it to what is necessary for their progression forward. In town, blinders prevent them from being afraid of everything that is happening on the sides or behind them.
