Inclination and thickness of the reef terraces of Maré Island
2
0
The reef terraces of Maré Island are most often inclined and their thickness varies according to their location. This tectonic deformation corresponds to that of the raised lagoon of the ancient atoll whose flat bottom is inclined regularly towards the northeast. The tectonic movements recorded by each island of the Loyalty archipelago determine the number and altitude of its reef terraces.
