Gérard Filippi is an expert entomologist who follows in the footsteps of Pierre André Latreille (1762-1833), the most important entomologist of his time described by one of his students as the prince of entomologists. The scientist described the Cicadidae (cicadas) family in 1802 and participated in the monumental Animal kingdom of Georges Cuvier, the father of paleontology. Latreille wrote the volume on the arthropods, invertebrates with bodies formed of articulated segments like insects, crustaceans, or arachnids.
