In the Hautes-Pyrénées department, the village of Arrens-Marsous extends in the suburbs of the Argelès-Gazost urban unit, near the Balaïtous massif. Before their association, the two villages of Arrens and Marsous were renowned for their flax production. About 31 miles (50 km) from Tarbes, Arrens-Marsous stands nearly 2,950 ft (900 m) above sea level amid mountains near the Franco-Spanish border. It is highly sought-after for its ancient architectural heritage in the heart of the Pyrénées National Park.
