The Fatouville lighthouse was built from 1839 and inaugurated in 1850 in the town of Fatouville-Grestain in the Eure department. Its octagonal tower, made of granite and Caen stone, rises 108 ft (33 m) high and sits in the center of a U-shaped building. Imagined by Léonce Reynaud, who also designed the integral lighthouse of Saint-Samson-de-la-Roque, the lighthouse of Fatouville has red and white optics with a 25 miles (40 km) range.
