Esculentus) is a species that occupies a wide range of calm and sunny aquatic habitats such as natural or artificial ponds, backwaters, canals, or ditches. It is a batrachian of medium size – 3.15 in (8 cm) for the male and 3.15 to 3.9 in (8-10 cm), sometimes more, for the female - and of green color locally pigmented with dark brown or black. The breeding male shows gray-white vocal sacs it uses during courtship displays.
