Immobility and camouflage
1
0
The chameleon has no powerful jaws nor venom to defend against aggression. Its weapons are immobility and camouflage. The mottling, thorns, various protuberances that adorn its body, as well as its vertically flattened form, contribute to its merging in the foliage. All day, the chameleon remains motionless, on the lookout. The greatest number of predations occur when chameleons move on the ground. In trees and shrubs, where they feel much more comfortable, they must especially protect themselves from day birds and arboreal snakes
