The Qatar State Grand Mosque or Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab Mosque offers a spectacular view of Doha, the Qatari capital. This sandstone mosque, with its clean lines, arches and domes, is the largest in the country with a built-up area of 210,596 ft² (19,565 m²). If we add the esplanade, the alleys and the parking lots, the mosque occupies a total surface of 17.5 hectares, the equivalent of 24 football fields. The main (air-conditioned) prayer hall is covered by twenty-eight large domes. Sixty-five smaller domes cover the corridors of the outdoor patio adjacent to the prayer hall and provide shade and coolness. Access to the mosque is through three main doors and seventeen side entrances.
