Marotiri islets, a fishing spot
1
0
Located 56mi (90km) northwest, Rapa is the closest island to the Marotiri islets. A more than 4921ft (1500m) deep ocean separates them. The 4 islets, distant from each other from 1 to 2mi (1.5 to 3km), cover an area of 4.31ha with particularly rich waters. Their very steep slopes making them unsuitable for vegetation despite their temperate humid climate, they only attract fishermen and seabirds to which they offer a nesting place.
